Bella’s Birds eye view
Hey, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Bella and I work for The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA), located in Battle Creek, Michigan. For those who have not had a chance to meet me, I would like to take you on a personal journey of my introduction to TSPA, which started with my mom working as the Massage Therapy Instructor and Director of Education. I was twelve years old when I first visited TSPA along with one of my friends. We came in and received the little “princes’ package”, which included manicure, pedicure, and mini facial. Honey, we looked good. You couldn’t tell us nothing. I knew then that I wanted to work in the beauty industry.
Fast forward, I ran into Dr. Opal, the owner of TSPA at Sally Beauty Supply. We struck up a conversation regarding me graduating and my plans after high school. I was invited to come in for an interview for the front desk support staff, which I nailed. I was anxious and nervous at the same time for two reasons. The first was working for Dr. Opal and my mom who was not shy about what she expected of me.
My first day went very well. I was introduced to all the staff, which I found to be very cool and nice. I did get a quick wakeup call when the first client came for her hair appointment. I’m thankful that she was nice as I navigated through this new learned process, but I handled it.
I was sitting at my desk thinking how my journey could help other young people who are looking for things to do after high school. I know some are planning to go to a four or two college, but there are other options. I will share with you some of the conversations that I had with many of the students who chose to enter into the beauty industry. Stay Tuned!
