One of the biggest traditions of the new year is setting resolutions with the intent of changing your life as the year does. Whether you write them down on a scrap of paper or have been dreaming of them for years – this is the year to make the change!

No matter what your resolution, you are not alone! The staff at The Salon Professional Academy(TSPA), Battle Creek has resolutions and goals for the new year that will not only help them change their lives this year but the lives of all the amazing students who call TSPA Battle Creek home.

Kristi Vernon

Admissions Coordinator

What career goals have you set for yourself in 2018? The career goals I have for myself in 2018 are to increase our student base and help more men and women find their passion in beauty and wellness.

What personal goals have you set that you would be willing to share? My personal goals are to continue down my path of holistic living and wellness. I am very passionate about learning more in the areas of holistic beauty and living practices.

What is your favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek? My favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek is the people I get to work with. We have a very small team, but we are a force to be reckoned with!

Did you ever make (and keep) a resolution that changed your life? The only resolution I have made and really kept was a couple years ago to begin a healthier lifestyle through holistic living. I have been slowly making changes in my life that have led to a healthier mindset, eating habits, and beauty regimen. Never has my mind and body felt as strong as they are now. I look forward to continuing to make more small changes that will eventually lead to a major holistic transformation!

Maggie Bowman

Cosmetology Educator

What career goals have you set for yourself in 2018? Expanding my knowledge and opportunities as a licensed cosmetologist and instructor.

What personal goals have you set that you would be willing to share? To start going back to the gym on a regular basis. I also would like to make more renovations to my home, and get a dog in the spring.

What is your favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek? Being able to share my knowledge and passion with future cosmetologists, creating bonds with students and building relationships my co-workers.

Did you ever make (and keep) a resolution that changed your life? How I think of myself and to choose my battles. To be able to brush things off my shoulder and not to dwell on things that don’t deserve the attention or time. To always be relational and level headed and find the good in everything.

Gaelle Sill

Front Desk Coordinator

What career goals have you set for yourself in 2018? I really enjoy my job at the front desk. I look forward to continuing to motivate students in sales, and learning how to grow their business by developing their retail closure rates.

What personal goals have you set that you would be willing to share? I want to cook more, like I use to in my home country of France. [I want] to eat more vegetables and less fast food.

What is your favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek? I love helping the students in their everyday life at the school. I also enjoy cashing out our guests and talking with them about their experiences here at our student salon [training area]. Building relationships with both our students and clients to assist our students in building their business is very rewarding for me.

Did you ever make (and keep) a resolution that changed your life? Moving to the United States from France.

Paige Diana

Cosmetology Educator

What career goals have you set for yourself in 2018? Expanding my Redken and TSPA knowledge along with completing my color certification though Redken.

What personal goals have you set that you would be willing to share? To spend more time as a family and take more family trips with my girls. I also would like to buy a new house possibly by Christmas next year.

What is your favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek? I love getting to share my knowledge [and] my experiences in my time in a salon. I love having “real life” experiences to expand upon students’ educations. I also love that I can continue to be part of the industry through education.

Did you ever make (and keep) a resolution that changed your life? Last year, my resolution started in November, when I chose to change my career for the betterment of my family and children. I have more time with my girls because of my decision to start working at a cosmetology educational facility.

Penny Reynolds

Director of Education, Massage Therapy Educator

What career goals have you set for yourself in 2018? My career goals at TSPA Battle Creek are to embrace the Director of Education position and to educate myself on the franchise. I inspire to increase the number of students for enrollment and to create strong, successful massage therapy students as the Massage Therapy Instructor.

What personal goals have you set that you would be willing to share? My personal goals are to continue my health and wellness lifestyle and to motivate others to join me in this journey.

What is your favorite part about working at TSPA Battle Creek? My favorite part of working at TSPA is that I have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. I love educating and sharing a passion for helping others.

Did you ever make (and keep) a resolution that changed your life? In 1995 I made a resolution to add massage therapy to my career. Becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist added wonders to my Exercise Science and Gerontology Career. I was able to help clients at a whole new level and my income increased, as I could offer a variety of services to my clients and enhance their health and wellbeing.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions?
